How does the Rent Tribunal Statia handle your personal data?
Would you like to receive information or a form? Or would you like us to contact you by phone? Then we have your personal data, such as your name, e-mail address, home address and/or telephone number. We will only use your data for this purpose, and not for sending other information.
If you submit a request for a ruling to the Rent Tribunal, we will ask for more information. We will then need to know which address it concerns, we need the rental agreement and sometimes more information to get a good picture of the situation. We also need data from the other party. The form that you fill in when you submit a request for a ruling states exactly which data the Rent Tribunal uses. We only ask for data that is necessary to process your request. We only use your data to process your request.
Storing personal data
The Rent Tribunal does not store personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which you left them. After that, the data is destroyed.
If you have submitted a request for a ruling, we will retain the case file for 5 years. After that, the data will be destroyed.
May we use your personal data?
The Rent Tribunal may process your data because we are performing a statutory task. Our tasks are laid down in the Caribbean Netherlands Rental Housing Market Measures Act.
Do we request data ourselves?
If you request information or request a form, we will not request any other data. If you submit a request for a ruling, we will also ask the other party for information.
Who do we share your personal data with?
The data you provide will then be shared with the other party. The data that the other party provides will be shared with you. The data will also be shared with all members of the Rent Tribunal who are involved in handling your request. They are obliged to maintain confidentiality and may not share your data with others. They may also not share information from the documents with others.
If the Rent Tribunal renders a ruling, it will be summarised and published anonymously.
How do we protect your personal data?
We take the protection of your data seriously. We take appropriate measures to prevent someone from making your data public or misusing it. Or from losing it, or viewing or changing it by someone who is not allowed to do so.
Social Media/External platforms
The Rent Tribunal only uses your personal data for the purpose for which you left it. For our services via social media, we can use WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Facebook. We believe it is important to state that we have no influence on the way in which these platforms handle your personal data. We therefore advise you not to share privacy-sensitive data via these platforms. This data is also not necessary for our services. The Rent Tribunal does not have access to the Personal Records Database (BRP) and other government systems. Therefore, the Rent Tribunal cannot look up information based on your personal data.
